Anti-cheat: catching and removing cheaters

Automatic cheat checks, network bans, Steam ban checks and reports, and how to set them up.

The bot watches every match and brings your staff the evidence; your admins decide with one button (Kick, Ban, Open report, Legit, Legit never flag again). Nothing is banned automatically unless you switch that on.

1. Set it up

  • Settings → Reports & network (ST-06): a staff-only Report review channel. Alerts land there unless you pick another one in ST-07.
  • Settings → Kill feed (ST-39): turn it on. The strongest checks need it.
  • Settings → Moderation alerts (ST-13) → Ping on risky joins: a staff role pinged when a known cheater joins.

2. What gets flagged (ST-07)

  • Headshot rate: far more headshots than those weapons give everyone else. Snipers are compared with snipers, riflemen with riflemen.
  • Impossible range: kills beyond what a gun can reach, like a pistol or SMG across the map.
  • Ranged kill streaks: many gun kills at long range within a few seconds.
  • Kill rate and K/D: far above the rest of the server.
  • Steam signs: a brand-new account or a recent VAC or game ban. Never an alert alone, but listed on the alert, and such players are flagged sooner.

Only gun kills count for the kill feed checks. Vehicles, artillery, AA, mines and grenades are ignored, and so is a full helicopter going down at once. One player gets one alert per match; new signs are added to it.

Tuning

  • Keep the defaults for a week and look at what gets flagged.
  • A good player flagged? Press Legit, never flag again instead of loosening the checks for everyone.
  • Too many alerts: raise the numbers of the one check that fires most. Too quiet: lower them a little.
  • Each check can be switched off on its own.
  • An alert is not proof: check the player file, the kill feed and clips first.

3. Network bans (ST-06)

Share bans with the network: a ban from a report alerts every community on the bot, with reason and evidence. Receive network alerts: you get theirs, with Ban here too or Ignore. A network-banned player joining your server is announced.

4. Steam ban check (ST-13)

Risky Steam accounts: an alert when someone joins with a recent ban or a new account. Remove players with a recent Steam ban: kicks or bans them automatically. Both are off by default, because many honest players have an old VAC ban.

Reports and Hall of Shame

Players report with /report and clips; a ban from a report is what gets shared. Cheaters caught on video are listed at wardogsbot.com/hall-of-shame, one button bans them on your servers.
